SILENT LOVE


Characters
Cecelia- An average girl who has a crush on Jin. She is smart, loves to write, and sensitive.

Jin- He is one of the hottest male friends of Cecelia. Many girls are after him. Although many girls like him, he has a thing for Petchula.

Petchula- She is a gorgeous and rich young lady and has everything every girl may want. However, she is not the brightest girl out there.

Leonardo- He is the clown of his group of friends. Being the funny one of the group he is very intelligent, social, sweet, and very handsome. Leonardo has a deep crush on Cecelia and has a lot of jealousy towards other guys who talks to her. However, she is disgusted by the way he tries to get her attention.


Cecelia sits on the comfy black leather sofa of the living room in the apartment and types away a mini-play on her laptop. The heat coming from the fireplace increases her anxiety of not going to be able to finish her story on time for the play-writing contest. Jin sits to the left of her chatting away to Petchula as she paints her nails. On the right, sits Leonard who is watching You Tube videos on his laptop.

CECELIA
[Sits cross-legged on the comfy black leather sofa typing away.] Okay. I’m concentrating, concentrating, concentrating. [Two sentences were only typed on the screen.] Ah! [Screams]…Darn it woman! Concentrate. Relax. Clear your mind of all stress. You have to write this play. Make it good and you shall be awarded with the best play!


JIN
[Looks over to where Cecelia was sitting and give her a look] Are you taking to yourself? [Laughs]


CECELIA
[Blushes deeply] Umm…[Pauses] No I was just thinking out loud. Sorry for bothering you all.


JIN
[Looks over to Cecelia and smile] It’s all cool. If you need any help just ask. I have nothing much to do anyway.

CECELIA
[Smiles] Okay. Thanks Jin. [Knowing that she has Jin’s attention for this sort second she is thinking quick for another topic to talk about.] Oh…Hey Jin-


PETCHULA
[Cuts Cecelia off as she sense that Jin is being distracted and she is not receiving all the attention.] Jin, Hon, look at my nails here. [Jin turns toward her.] Do you think this look good enough yet? I feel like the color just doesn’t go together. [She moves closer to Jin and places her hands on his laps. Looks over to Cecelia and smiles. She knows that she has Jin’s attention now and Cecelia is jealous.]


JIN
[His heart pounds with excitement as her hands rub on his laps.] Um…ugh…yes. [Swallows.] It looks great on you though.


LEO
[Looks up from his laptop to the three.] Dude man…[laughs] what’s up? It seems like you’re wetting your pants over there. [Looks over Cecelia and stop. He can sense her pain.]


CECELIA
[Turns away from Jin and Petchula. Her heart pounds loudly, she tries to concentrate back to her laptop and types away. Sigh.]


JIN
[Turns back to Cecelia.] Hey, what was it that you were saying a second ago.


LEO
[Cuts into what Cecelia was going to say] She was going to tell you how much she loves my smile and that you should practice trying to smile like me. [Shoots over a smile to Cecelia and wink.] Am I right?


CECELIA
[Disgusted with Leo and shoots over to him a look of disgust] No! Can you just shut up for once? Gosh! I was asking Jin if he knows any love story that I can simply put into a play. [Turns to Jin] Do you?


PETCHULA
[Looks up] You know what Leo maybe Cecelia does have feelings for you. Look at how she blushes before answering you. [Filing her nails] Who knows…you both could be a great couple. You two are both nerds and both weird. [Laughs silently to herself]


CECELIA
[Turns red and looks back to screen of the computer] We have nothing together.


LEO
[Got up and walks over to the table in middle of the room. Pours himself some water and turn to Petchula] Well you know what Petchula? Maybe we would make a perfect couple. Unlike you and Jin. You have no brains and he does. Wonder how that is going to work out? [Laughs out loudly]


PETCHULA
[Slams the nail filer on the sofa and stands up.] Hey you watch it. Do you know who you are talking to too like that! Ugh… I can just-


JIN
[Stands up and puts hands around Petchula and pull her back down.] Hey. Hey. Be nice.


PETCHULA
[Sits down and stare right into Jin’s eye.] Jin did you see how that pathetic friend of yours is talking to me? [Looks over to Leo and nods toward him.] Did you? He is not [exaggerates on the “not”] showing me any respect at all. I am not happy with that!


CECELIA
[Giggles a little and shakes her head.]


LEO
[Looks over and see Cecelia giggle. This made him proud of himself. He walks back to his laptop.] Hey I was just only kidding. Chill Petchula. You’re turning red. Its not going to match you nails color. [Laughs] No need to take offense so soon.


PETCHULA
[Glares at Leo and takes in a deep breathe and shoots a deadly look at Cecelia.]


JIN
[Puts his arm around Petchula and looks at her.] He is just kidding. [Lifts up her chin and stares into her eyes.] You look beautiful.


PETCHULA
[Smiles] Fine. But is my face turning red? [Pats her cheek softly and digs in her purse for a mirror.]


LEO
[Looks at Petcuhla and then to Jin. He tilts his head and gives Jin a nod. Jin looks back, smiles, and just shrugs his shoulders.]


CECELIA
[Feels a little pain creepy inside her heart. She shrugs it off.] Hey Jin as I was asking you a while ago, do you know of any love story?


LEO
[Smiles] Hey I know of one how about you write.


CECELIA
[Turns to Leo] Was I talking to you?


LEO
[Puts down his laptop and walks over to Cecelia.] Of course you are gorgeous. You were looking at me when you were talking weren’t you. [Laughs and sits on the arm of the leather chair.]


CECELIA
[Sits back a little further from Leo as leans towards her smiling. She feels nervous.] No I wasn’t. [Silently she thinks to herself of how good he smells. Shakes her head. Pushes him away.] Move! Go back to where you are sitting.


LEO
[Leans closer and smiles.] Yes you are. [He notice her blushing makes her so beautiful.]
Ou…spicy…I like.



CECELIA
[Pushes him away] Ugh I hate you!


LEO
[Moves back and stands up] Of course you don’t. [Laughs silently to himself as he walks back to his laptop.]


PETCHULA
[Looking down at nails.] Please, the two of you go flirt somewhere else. How embarrassing. [Waves painted nails in the air.]


JIN
[Looks at everyone and then to Cecelia] Um…I’m not sure. I don’t know. Love…[Looks up to the ceiling and leans back placing both his hand behind his head]


PETCHULA
[Extending her hands on and tilts her head to the side] I do. How about you write about yourself. That’ll be interesting. Some girls just don’t get it that they need to back off. They just try too hard for the guy. [Leans her head on Jin’s chest] That is just embarrassing.


JIN
[Looks at Petchula with a serious face] That’s enough stop it.


PETCHULA
[Sits back up] No! [Sensing that she has everyone’s a attention she stand up with one of her delicately painted nails on one hips and the other pointing at Cecelia] It’s the truth. I mean just look at her. She is obvious trying to get your attention when she knows clearly you are all mine. Who does she think she is? [Hand gesturing Cecelia] Look at her hair, the way she dress-


CECELIA
[Embarrassed and eyes filled with tears she begins to gather all her stuff into her bag]



LEO
[Sees the hurt in Cecelia’s eyes] Well Cecelia, you can clearly write about some girls who claim that certain things are theirs but don’t even know that their overly heavy self-confidence is making them incomparable to the less noticeable girls.


JIN
[Annoyed with both Leo and Petchula now sit right up] Stop it the two of you!


PETCHULA
[Stands up and Screams] Ahh!!…I can’t take it anymore! Cecelia tell you stupid boyfriend to stop it. [Turns to Jin who just sits and stares back at her] Jin I am not happy at all!


LEO
[Laughs out loudly and types on the computer.] You’re hilarious.


CECELIA
[Stands up with all her stuff ready to leave]


JIN
[Stands up after Cecelia] Where are you going? You still need my help?


PETCHULA
[Stands up and pull Jin down beside her] Where are you going? Sit back down.


CECELIA
[Look from Jin to Petchula] Forget it. I don’t need anyone’s help. [Turns and walk off to her room]


PETCHULA
[Shouts after Cecelia while holding on to the arm of Jin] Go then. You and your stupid nerdy self shouldn’t be staying here anyway.


LEO
[Stands up] Looks who talking. This is not even you apartment. [Walks off after Cecelia]


PETCHULA
[Stands up and screams after Leo] Ah...come back here you idiot.


JIN
[Looks up at Petchula] Can you just stop it?


PETCHULA
[Smirks]

This is in Cecelia’s room

CECELIA
[Opens the door and throws her stuff on floor. She walks over to the mirror and takes a look at herself. Sits down on the stool and covers her face. Silently she cries to herself]

LEO
[Knocks on the door] Can I come in? [Opens the door and walks in. Sees Cecelia crying in front of the mirror] what’s wrong?


CECELIA
[Wipes her eyes and cheeks quickly] Go away. Why do you always have to comment on everything? That was not even funny.


LEO
[Sit on the bed beside Cecelia] Why are you so stupid? You never know what to say back.


CECELIA
[Turns and look straight into Leo’s eyes] That is who I am. I don’t need help with anything. [Turns and look at herself in the mirror again] Go away. I don’t want to see you.


LEO
[Stand up]
Do you really like him that much?


CECELIA
[Looks down and answers quietly] No.



LEO
[Sits back down on the bed again] Then why are you crying like that?


CECELIA
[Turns to look at Leo again. Raises her voice] I am not! Go. Get away from me.


LEO
[Pain filled his voice] Don’t you see that love the others got for you?


CECELIA
[Looks down at her feet again] What others? Guys? Are you serious? [Stands up and looks at herself in the mirror] Look at me. I can’t even compare to Petchula. I’m nothing like her.


LEO
[Look at Cecelia angrily] Why do you always compare yourself to other girls? Look at you. [Arms waves out] You are wonderful that way you are.


CECELIA
[Covers her ears] Stop it! Enough! [Shakes her head] I don’t want to talk about this anymore.


LEO
[Walks closer to her] Tell me you like Jin then. Why is it so hard?


CECELIA
[Looks up to Leo] Fine. Fine. I like him. So much. So much. Ok?


LEO
[Pain stabs him hard in the chest] Backs away.


Back to Jin and Petchula in the living room of the apartment.




PETCHULA
[Look at Jin and placed one of her hand on his arm] Hon what’s wrong? Look at me. Isn’t it a lot better now? It’s quieter.


JIN
[Takes her hand off his arm] Don’t touch me.


PETCHULA
[Leans close to Jin and trace his face with one fine painted nail]


JIN
[Push Petchula away and got up and walk off]


PETCHULA
[Gets up and shouts after Jin] Jin! Jin! Come back. Where are you going?


JIN
[Turns around to Petchula] Don’t follow me. You started enough problems today.


PETCHULA
[Sinks down to her seat] Humph! [Crosses her arm in front of her chest]


JIN
[Walks up to Cecelia’s room and stands outside the door as he hears Leo and Cecelia talk loudly]


LEO
[Sitting down and starring at the floor] You love him then?


CECELIA
[Pace around in a circle in front of Leo] No. Yes. I don’t know. He’s so perfect. So right. There’s no one like him.


LEO
[Looks up to Cecelia and asked] What about me?


CECELIA
[Stopped and stare at Leo] What about you?


LEO
[Stand ups] My love for you. He doesn’t event notice you.


CECELIA
[Shock] You love me? Ha. Yea right. Why me?


LEO
[Moves closer to Cecelia] Because you are wonderful as who you are.


CECELIA
[Moves a step back] Stop lying. [Laughs nervously] I’m not going to fall for that joke.


LEO
[Moves another step closer] I’m not.


CECELIA
[Stares]


LEO
[Walk right up to Cecelia. Lifts her face up and kiss her.]


CECELIA
[To her amazement with wide eyes she kissed him right back]


JIN
[Opens the door in. he sees them and closes the door. He leans outside the door. A little pain stabs his heart. She is just a friend he tells himself. But why is it so hard to go now
